Shipping something as large as a fairing , is a nightmare.
I shipped a Vetter Windjammer in 2003, UPS wanted over 300.00 dollars to ship it. I spoke to the counter man at a AC wholesale company , I did business with and he shipped it with companies commercial account. It cost me about 46.00 to ship it.
It was in a box from our new dish washer. They shrink wrapped it and mounted it on a pallet. It was huge.

I found someone in about 15 minutes on the Virago tech forum.. He goes there to gamble. he works in a place that ships stuff.. 70 bucks was Inanes quote from Fedex.. This guy will tell me tomorrow if he can beat it.. I gotta tell ya,, these forums are priceless.. If you ask, someone will help. I help too.. Its a beautiful thing!! A wonderful symbiosis.

Wish I was headed out your way in the near future. Inane is about 90 minutes from me (over some great roads).
Totaally agree about the forums. I'm finding the astronomy community is almost as helpful as the ROV folks.
