Almost sold YellowJacket again....$5500.00!

It happens every year, the family garage sale, and every time I put a for sale sign on YJ in order to please my wife by at least making an effort to sell her ( the bike, not my wife - although the thought has crossed my mind)

Anyway, I put a sign on her describing all her attributes, all the work I've done and what I have left to do, as well as all the upgrades such as the 83 front end, shark fairing, monoshock, bags and lights. The sign also said $5500.00 Cash/FIRM - Serious offers only. Well, it got me in a bit of trouble becasue someone actually wanted to buy her again. Happened last year too but this guy was pretty seroius and wouldn't back down even when I told him it was a joke. In fact, he got kinda pissed at me. He was persistent too. It took almost 30 minutes to talk my way out of it. He even came back later to ask if I had changed my mind.

The funny thing is that there are people out there that are willing to plunk down 5000.00+ on a Vision. Not too bad.....

I was having visions of my own thinking of the bikes I could buy with that money but in the end, I just love YJ too much to do somehing like that....yet.

David,I would start creating a few replicas! Also, you are obviously not setting the price high enough! maybe 7500. is in order!

You know David, you have to be careful doing that sort of thing. While my wife would have no problem with me selling my Vision, and buying another to rebuild, I'm not so sure that once yours left the house another would be allowed to take its place..

Youre right and that was part of the discussion. She made it clear that I wan't "buying" another bike....afterall, I didn't pay anythign for YJ.

Thanks for the heads up.

I spent the weekend riding #1508 and haven't been here to look at the posts.

Dean's bike has got a real flat spot but then it scoots. I'm going to balance the carbs with the manometer at a friends house soon as we can schedule. It seems like this one really pulls hard above 4 K. I'll have to go ride with some more Visions to verify that.

I keep looking down and finding that I'm going too fast for the roads I ride to work every day.

Mine does the same thing, Its been on the back burner for now, but Im thinking my problem is the spray nozzle.. its a stream instead of a funnel shape..

This is getting good. My bike has been at a custom bike shop for the last week waiting to get the hard bag brackets modified so I can mount the bags. He's had it up on a lift in the center of his shop while he's doing the work. He called me today to come by and look at what he's done so far and asked if I was interested in selling the bike. He told me that the bike has been the "most popular" attraction in his shop. This is coming from a guy tht makes OCC look like amatures!!!
He told me that he's had at least 4 people ask about it in the last week and wanted to know if I was willing to entertain offers. I told him my garage sale story and he smiled and said everything has a price and when I told him what the average Vision goes for, he said "maybe you're not asking enough." and told me a little story about a friend of his who sells old bikes. So I told him if anyone wants to pay $8000.00 for YJ, they can have her.

If that happens, don't tell the wife, just go buy one before hand, and tell her you make a profit

That would provide you with the funds to buy a very nice vision, several parts bikes and the money to customize the # 1 bike , again.
